    CERTIFIED NURSING ASSISTANT Job Summary

    The Nursing Assistant will provide supplemental/contract services to our clients, and will strive to provide these services in a compassionate, professional, ethical, and knowledgeable fashion.

    The CNA will work under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Physician at the facility assigned to and understands the limitations and scope of care able to be given according to the State Regulatory Agency.

    The CNA will try to compromise when scheduling with the client and with GPS creating a “win – win” situation. The CNA will work very closely with the supervising staff collaborating their efforts in order to deliver the nursing process effectively.

    The CNA also understands that by accepting an assignment, the nursing assistant is aware of the potential exposure to internal and external hazardous materials including but not limited to: blood and blood borne pathogens, infectious/communicable diseases, noise, excessive physical injury from patients, airborne dusts, fumes, and gases.

    Duties/Responsibilities/Functions

    As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you will perform your job duties while upholding the utmost ethical and safe techniques always keeping the care of the patient as your top priority. You will work very closely with the entire team of healthcare professionals in the facility you are assigned to and must have a complete understanding of your limitations in turn seeking advice when necessary. These are just some of the duties that you will be expected to do, but are not limited to the following:
    • Perform all nursing assistant duties in accordance with the state Regulatory Board specific to the state you are working in, while adhering to all facility policies and procedures.
    • Provide direct patient care, and reports any changes in patient status to the supervising RN, LPN, or Physician to insure patient comfort and safety.
    • Perform direct patient care including, but not limited to: vital signs, personal hygiene, ADL’s, and monitors Intake and Output of patient.
    • Perform routine nursing care to assigned patients, while utilizing age specific and universal precaution practices at all times.
    • Document all activities and changes of the patient and gives a detailed report to supervisor at the end of shift/assignment.
    • Follow hospital policy when disposing of biohazardous materials, labeling and handling of all materials.
    • Communicate with all staff, patients, and families with excellent written and verbal skills.
    • Consistently seek educational tools and inservices in order to broaden knowledge base of various age groups, techniques, and best practices.
    • Will frequently lift up to 100 or more pounds consistently causing a high volume of stooping, bending, lifting, pulling, and twisting.
    • Will be willing to assist with and handle various pieces of medical equipment.
    • Must be able to perform various sensory requirements such as; vision, speech, smell, touch, manual dexterity, fine motor skills, and hearing in order to assess and treat the patient accurately.
    • Comply with all facility policy and procedure, while upholding the high expectations of Angel Healthcare.
    • Accountable and responsible for each specific patient’s care assigned while under direct supervision.
    • Is punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts.
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Florida Board of Nursing Certified Nursing Assistant Certification
    • Minimum of one-year clinical experience
    • Strong interviewing, assessment and communication skills
    • Background Screening - Level 2 background screening and signed Affidavit Attestation of Compliance
    • Health Statement - dated within the last 6 months, that he or she is free from communicable diseases
    • Current CPR certification from an instructor that is approved to provide training by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
    • Documentation of at least 2 hours of training on assistance with self-administered medication
    • Completion of a one-time HIV/AIDS Training
    • Valid Driver's License
    • Proof of Automobile Insurance

    HOME HEALTH AIDE Job Summary

    Assist clients with their daily living activities and companionship. To provide personal care, meal preparation, and light housekeeping assistance to clients.

    Duties/Responsibilities/Functions
    • Perform specific personal care duties, i.e., bathing. Involves lifting and supporting patient's weight, as outlined on the client's care plan and instructed by the Registered Nurse
    • Responds to any emergencies in household following established procedures.
    • May prepare meals for clients following special diet.
    • Assists patients with walking and at times using assistive devices such as walkers.
    • Assists in lifting and transfer of partially weight bearing patients utilizing proper body mechanics; utilizes Hoyer Lift for heavy transfers, or to assist patients who cannot support their own weight.
    • Assists client with range of motion exercises (active and passive), as well as application of assistive devices for example, prosthesis.
    • Observes and reports to the Registered Nurse any changes in the client's condition, attitude, or surroundings.
    • Performs assigned tasks necessary to maintain a clean, safe environment for the patient. For example, light vacuuming, dusting, cleaning of bathroom, laundry, grocery shopping
    • Attend quarterly in-services when scheduled. Twelve hours of in-service training is required annually to keep Home Health Aide Certificate valid.
    • Must adhere to our dress code and be in uniform at all times.
    • Must be reliable and be at cases when scheduled. Must be willing, able, and ready to work during chosen availability.
    • May be assigned to work in alternate care settings.
    • All related duties as assigned on the care plan.
    • Consistently demonstrate care values to patients, patient’s families and co-workers.
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Certificate or an evidence of completion of a home health aide training course from a public vocational technical school or a licensed non-public career education school.
    • An aide that had training in another state must provide a certificate of completion of home health aide training from a public vocational technical school or a career education school that is licensed in that state.
    • Minimum of one-year clinical experience
