Treatment instructions | How to apply the treatment
Step 1. Be sure to perform any other chemical treatments well before applying the Brazilian Keratin treatment. You do not need to wait, however it is important that any other treatment is complete BEFORE using Brazilian Keratin treatment.
Step 2. The first step is to prepare the hair for the keratin treatment. To do so we need to close the hair cuticle by shampooing the hair with the Deep Cleanser shampoo. Do not scrub the scalp during shampooing, just lather it up and rinse off. For very curly, afro, or virgin hair, leave the sodium-chlorite-free Deep Cleanser shampoo from 10 to 15 minutes, this will open the cuticle enough so the Keratin treatment can deeply bind to the hair shaft. Repeat this step twice for best results.
Step 3. Rinse the hair well and towel dry. Blow-dry the hair on a medium heat setting until it almost dries.
Step 4. Ensure safety protocols are followed. This includes using gloves, capes, aprons, and ensuring proper air ventilation in the room.
Step 5. Part the hair into quadrants and apply the Keratin Treatment formula using a color brush and bowl. Apply to the hair in fine sections, approximately 1/4" away from scalp (as you would a virgin color application). This is important, as you will work the product from root to tip with your fingers and a comb. Use a fine-toothed comb through each section after application to ensure the product is evenly distributed and to remove any excess product.
Step 6. Blow-dry the hair again on a medium heat setting until completely dry. For very curly, afro, or virgin hair let the Keratin treatment sit on the hair for at least 20 minutes before starting to blow-dry. This is one of the most important steps on the Brazilian keratin treatment and it will ensure the success of the treatment itself.
Step 8. Once the hair is dry, begin the flat iron process starting at the nape of the neck, and moving up the head. Temperature is most important part on the treatment, improper hear may change hair color and cause the treatment to fail. Apply flat iron into small sections, at least 7 to 10 times in each section in order to seal hair cuticles completely. Follow the Flat Iron temperature as follows:
a. Colored Hair, Bleached, and high lights, Light Ash Blonde, Dirty Blonde, Copper Red, Copper Blonde: 160°C/320°F
b. Caucasian Virgin Hair, Jet Black, Dark Brown, Medium Brown, Light Brown: 200°C/390°F
c. Afro Hair: 230°C/450°F
d. Light, Golden, Platinum Blonde, Light Brown with highlights: 150°C/300°F
e. Dark Brown with Light brown highlights, Auburn Brown, Ash Brown with Light Brown High Lights, Cherry Red: 180C°/360°F
Step 9. Ensure that the following aftercare instructions are adhered to:
* Do not wash, tie or bind the hair for 48 hours. ** Use our keratin-based and pH-balanced Shampoo and Conditioner to provide smoothness, shimmer, and also to prolong the life of the Brazilian Keratin treatment.
