  • SUMMARYTo assist the Executive Vice President of Finance, to provide support to the accounting department and assist in the monthly, quarterly and year end reporting.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTo provide support, direction and manage the day to day activities of the accounts receivable, refund, internal audit, bank reconciliation and accounts payable teams to complete their daily assigned tasks.To prepare the daily bank reports for the bank reconciliation team and Chief Financial Officer.To prepare wire transfer notices and initiate wire transfer payments to vendors for invoices processed by the accounts payable team.To post NSF check notifications received from bank to customer accounts and forward NSF check to accounts receivable team for collection.To post credit card charge back notifications to customer accounts provided by bank reconciliation or accounts receivable teams.To submit stop payment instructions received from accounts receivable team and accounts payable team for replacement checks or stop payment instructions. To enter the void checks in accounting system.To enter inventory cost adjustments instructions received from Accounts Payable Team.To enter new vendors and assist the Accounts Payable Team.To change vendor payment information form vendor notifications received.To review sales reports to ensure showrooms have obtained the exempt sales transactions documentation for the Florida Department of Revenue.To confirm the industry code for resale certificates received from showroom for sales tax exempt inquiries.To examine all outside sales commission payment requests to ensure the vendor has registered and is eligible for the commission per the Company program.To prepare the outside sales commission request for the President’s review.To examine sales transactions over $9,000 to determine if the sale is required to report on the Form 8300 Cash Transactions Over $10,000. To report all $10,000 and over cash transactions on Form 8300. To file all F8300 documents received from showroom.To answer customer refund inquiries and vendor payment inquiries.To coordinate the timely close of the sales commission period and sales commissions reports are distributed.Record entries for advertising trade transactions negotiated by the advertising department.To pay the payroll tax liability from instructions received by the payroll department.To file monthly sales tax returns. To initiate the ACH payment instructions for the monthly sales tax liability.To answer sales tax notices received from the Florida Department of Revenue.To run all end of month reports for the general ledger closing.To prepare the standard monthly journal entries for the general ledger closing.To review the general ledger income and expense accounts for posting errors.To assist the Chief Financial Officer maintaining the subsidiary ledgers.To assist the Chief Financial Officer to review the general ledger balance sheet accounts during the general ledger closing.To assist the Chief Financial Officer with the year end audit planning and preparation of the audit schedules.To prepare the year-end Form 1099’s.To assist the Chief Financial Officer in other projects as they may arise.To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Communicate effectively in written and oral form in both languages.Ability to manage the Accounting Team.Intermediate knowledge of US general accounting principals; sales tax, payroll and income tax laws; audit principals; accounting/bookkeeping knowledge as it relates to cash subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable subsidiary ledgers, purchase journals, accounts payable ledgers and their relationships with the general ledger; financial reporting.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Master's degree in Accounting required.2 years experience in an assistant controller’s position.MATHEMATICAL SKILLCollege level math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages).CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSCertified Public Accounting License or Candidate.- a plusPHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
